“For those of you who have not heard or shot the Steel Challenge it is a fast and fun match. As the name implies the targets are all steel, 10” round, 12” round and 18X24” Rectangle plates hung off of 5’ high posts in different patterns. Each stage consist of 5 targets with one of them designated as the “stop plate”. The stop plate must be the last plate hit. Targets may be reengaged if you miss but anything shot after the stop plate is hit will not count, any misses will be a 3 second penalty per miss. You will shoot five strings and your lowest score will be dropped. There are several different divisions: Centerfire Pistol (Open (optics allowed) and Limited (think IDPA ESP/SSP) Minim caliber is .38 Spl or 9mm. The rimfire division also has an open and an iron sight category. Centerfire shooters will start with a loaded gun holstered and their hands in the surrender position. Rimfire will start with the gun at low ready pointed at a spot 10’ in front of the shooter.”
